Branding agency for challenger brands

RED Sloth Media is a branding agency for challenger brands — companies that are too ambitious for a safe, forgettable identity. We build brand systems — strategy, logo, type, colour, voice and guidelines — that make a new or overlooked brand look like the obvious choice in its market, in India's metros and abroad.

Challenger brands are the ones with a better product and a weaker presence than the incumbent. That gap is usually a brand problem, not a product problem. A challenger that looks like a hobby gets treated like one: slower sales, harder hiring, weaker pricing power. A challenger that looks inevitable gets the meeting, the press, the partnership. Our work closes that gap. We work with SaaS companies, startups and individuals who have something worth building and need the identity to match it — not with companies that want a logo tweaked and nothing else. If you are launching, rebranding, or finding that your current identity no longer fits what you have become, this is the service for you. If you only need a single asset, a single post, or a quick logo, we will tell you honestly that a full brand system is more than you need.

What's included

Brand strategy

Positioning, audience, voice and the idea the whole system hangs on. Strategy comes before visuals, so the logo has something to say and the website has something to sell.

Logo design

A mark built for real use: small sizes, single colour, app icons, favicons, packaging and print. We design for the places a logo actually lives, not just for a presentation slide.

Brand identity

Type, colour, imagery, layout rules and the small decisions that make a brand recognisable even without its logo. Identity is a system, not a single file.

Brand guidelines

A document your team and every future designer can actually follow: what to use, what not to use, and why. Guidelines stop a brand from drifting apart after launch.

Art direction

The visual direction for shoots, illustrations and campaigns, so every image feels like it came from the same brand, even when different people make it.

Motion design and animation

Logo motion, product motion and social motion that carry the identity into video and product, where static guidelines cannot reach.

Stationery and marketing materials

Business cards, decks, one-pagers and sales materials that carry the identity into the rooms where deals actually happen.

Social content and ads

Templates and first campaigns that launch the identity in public, so the brand does not go quiet the week after it launches.

Process

  1. Discover

We start with your market, your competitors and your customers, not with a mood board. We look at who you are up against, what they all look like, and where there is space to be different without being strange.

  2. Define

Positioning, audience and voice, agreed in words before any visuals. If we cannot describe the brand in a sentence, we do not design it yet.

  3. Design

Logo, type, colour and identity system, built in rounds with real applications — website header, packaging, social post — so you judge the system, not a single mark on a white background.

  4. Refine

We tighten, test at small sizes and in single colour, and remove anything that does not survive real use. A brand that only works at large size on a light background is not finished.

  5. Launch

Guidelines, files and templates, plus the first marketing materials, so the brand launches as a system your team can run, not as a folder of files nobody opens.

Pricing signals

Typical range: ₹37,500 – ₹1,25,000 in India, $750 – $2,500 internationally. Range depends on scope: a logo and guidelines for a startup sits at the lower end; a full identity system with art direction and motion sits at the upper end. Custom engagements are available — see the pricing page. See full pricing.

Is a full brand system right for you?

A full brand system is right when you are launching, rebranding, or finding that your current identity no longer fits what you have become. It is more than you need if you only need a single asset, a single post, or a quick logo tweak — in that case, buy the asset, not the system.

  • Launching a new company, product or venture
  • Rebranding after a change in audience, market or product
  • Finding that the current identity no longer fits what you have become
  • Needing guidelines and templates a team can actually use

Frequently asked questions

What does a branding agency actually deliver?

A brand system, not just a logo. That means strategy and positioning, a logo suite, type and colour, voice, guidelines and templates — everything a team needs to look consistent in every place the brand appears, from a website to a package to a sales deck.

How is a challenger brand different from any other brand?

A challenger is competing against a bigger, better-known incumbent. It cannot win by looking like the incumbent, only smaller. Challenger branding finds the space the incumbent cannot occupy — a sharper position, a bolder voice, a more distinctive system — and builds the identity around it.

Do I need a full rebrand, or just a refresh?

A refresh updates the surface: logo, type, colour. A rebrand changes the position: who you are for, what you stand for, and how you say it. If the business has changed, or the current brand no longer fits the product, a refresh will not fix it. If the position is right and only the visuals are tired, a refresh is enough — and cheaper.

How long does a branding project take?

It depends on scope, but a typical identity system runs in weeks, not days, because strategy, design rounds and real-application testing cannot be compressed without losing quality. Timelines are agreed before work starts, and a launch date is part of the plan, not an afterthought.

Will my team be able to use the brand after launch?

Yes — that is the point of guidelines and templates. A brand that only the agency can use is a dependency, not a system. We hand over files, guidelines and templates so your team can produce on-brand work without us.
